Fayetteville Flight Service Station, 1949-1993

Providing information for pilots for over four decades, the Fayetteville Flight Service Station was an integral part of the aviation community in northwest Arkansas.

When the Federal Aviation Administration closed the Fayetteville FSS in 1993, the Arkansas Air Museum received the equipment that once guided pilots through the skies over the region.

Arranged as close as possible to the original FSS, the notable items in the display include the main console from which FAA officials spoke with pilots, the radios and amplifiers used to communicate and the station's teletype.

Pilots will recall the days before GPS satellites with the 1960s and 1970s era charts and navigational aids displayed in the FSS.
